Today we live in a very materialistic world, where it seems that progress is only measured by what you possess. This is not only a trend among unbelievers, but also amongst believers. The desire to acquire, and amass things in the shortest possible time has become so pervasive. There are many young believers who no longer trust God’s process of making His people, but have now become more focused on being self-made. This is clearly one of the signs of the end of the age, but Jesus clearly warned us about what our attitude should be to these things. In Luke 12:15, Jesus said to take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life does not consist in the abundance of the things which he possesses. The temptation is real, and we must take heed to the words of Jesus, so that we are not caught up in the world’s pursuit of material things.
