Following God’s Plan

TOPIC:                  Following God’s Plan
TEXT:                    Jer. 29:1-14
MEM. VERSE:     Jer. 29:11
INTRODUCTION
God has given man the power and ability to do all things, except to lead himself (Jer. 10:23-24). Therefore any man attempting to lead himself or walk out of God’s plan is simply acting against the will of God for his life.
No man can ever have a better plan for himself than the one God has for him, this is because God is much more eager to bless us than we are desirous for His blessing. Hence, it becomes absolutely necessary for us to understand and follow God’s plan, because therein lies our prosperity and well being.

EVALUATIONS

1. Nature of God’s Plan:
(a) God’s plan is perfect – Gen. 1:31
(b) God’s plan always enjoys God’s provision – I Kings 17:2-6, Neh. 2:5-8

(d) God’s plan is not devoid of challenges – Gen. 37:23-28; 39:20

2. Following God’s Plan:

(a) You must be disciplined – Gen. 39:6-12, Dan. 1:8
(b) You must be committed and obedient – Isa. 1:19, Deut. 4:30-31, I Sam. 15:19-22
(c) You must be patient – Jam.1:3-4, Heb. 6:12
(d) You must be prayerful – Rom. 12:12, Phil. 4:6, Dan. 6:10
(e) You must give attention to God’s word – 2 Pet. 3:5-7, Col. 3:16, Heb. 4:2
3. Benefits of Following God’s Plan:

(a) Your future is secured – Jer. 29:11
(b) You will enjoy divine promotion and uplifting – Dan. 2:48, Ps. 75:6
(c) You will enjoy peace and joy – Rom. 14:17, Neh. 12:43
(d) Your life will end gloriously – Gen. 41:39-41
CONCLUSION
God’s ultimate and changeless plan for every life is the plan of salvation, and all the other plans God has for you stem from this (Ezek. 18:20-23, John 10:10-11).
It is only in understanding God’s plan that you can effectively follow it in details. You might have to go through some challenges and difficulties at certain times, but that does not mean God has forsaken you. If only you will passionately keep to God’s plan and follow after it diligently, then you will have every reason to rejoice very soon.
Stick to God’s plan for your life!

Find Your Place and Stay There

Like a bird that wanders from its nest is a man who wanders from his place. Prov.27:8 (NIV) One of the greatest advantages you can have in life is to find your place early and stay there. The challenges of life come to us all, but you may just find it so overwhelming when you are not in your place, as compared to the person who has found their place. I am sure that you have come across one or two persons in life who excel and have an utter sense of fulfilment in what they do in life. It doesn’t have to be really big sometimes, but you can tell that they are in their place, where they should actually be. You may also have come across some persons whom you will consider clear misfits where they are, and in what they do. The latter set of people are most likely not to be prospering as they should, or I should say, they have potential to prosper more, if they find their place and stay there. The same is true about your life. Sometimes you need to take a step back and ask yourself if you ar...

Two Things to Avoid to be Prosperous

He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster. Prov.18:9 (KJV) In my last piece, I talked about the importance of finding your place, and staying there to command God’s Blessing. I emphasized the importance of staying power in whatever God has called you to do or committed to your hands. In this piece, I will seek to drive the conversation further, talking about two wrong attitudes that will greatly hinder the Blessing of God from finding expression in your life. Our text says the slothful is brother to a great waster, this is a very dangerous company indeed, and always a disaster waiting to happen. These two characters can never prosper and attain God’s highest Blessing. You may be working hard and making mistakes, but you must keep at it because, the man who tries and make mistakes will command the Blessing far more than the man who is slothful. God hates laziness! Laziness can disguise in many ways; a person can be spiritually lazy, and that...

Updated: Don’t Bind the Brook, Don’t Rebuke the Ravens - Simple Lesson in Obedience

Over the years I have come to understand the place of simple obedience to the instructions of God, and the huge difference it could make in one’s life. I have also come to see how easy believers can be in disobedience, yet be able to cover up with some form of spiritual activity, then in the end attempt to pass on the responsibility for their failures on God.   This can possibly account for one of the biggest reasons why there are believers who seem not to be making progress in life in spite of their seeming spirituality. The situation is even more compounded when older believers who should set the example for younger believers fall into this group. The implication is that there will be a generation of young believers who cannot seem to find the proper alignment between the Christian faith and being productive in life.   The story of the prophet Elijah in 1 Kings 17, clearly illustrates my point.  The Word of the Lord had come to the prophet to camp by the bro...
