Provoking God’s Help II

God is our refuge and strength [mighty and impenetrable],
A very present and well-proved help in trouble Ps. 46:1 (Amp)

There is clearly no doubt that God wants to help His people and we must learn how best to provoke His help in our various areas of need. We have previously shared two vital steps to provoking the help of God in the last piece, and here in this piece, I will share the next two steps. Remember that the steps outlined must be taken in order, so if you are yet to read the first part, I will advise you to do so before continuing to step 3.

Step 3. Declare boldly.
So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me Heb. 13: 6 (KJV)
At this point, you have already crossed steps 1 & 2, you have settled in your heart by meditating in the word that God wants to help you, and you have no doubt in your heart that He will help you. You have also began to pray in the spirit concerning receiving His help. Then, the next step will be to begin to declare boldly. But wait, what are you declaring? You are declaring boldly that the Lord is your helper according to Heb. 13:6, Ps. 46:1, and many other scriptures that affirm so. You are declaring that you have received the help of God concerning the situation which you have sought Him for. You are declaring that you have received the answer to your prayers and that your request before the Father is already a done deal. You are not just whispering all of these things to yourself but boldly declaring them. Recall that the key word here is boldly. If you are not yet declaring boldly, then it is evidence that it has really not settled in your heart, so you must reverse to either step 2 or step 1. The devil will attempt to weigh you down with doubts in your head and offer suggestions why things will not work, but you must not give in. keep your confessions going and you will eventually see God’s mighty help coming your way.

Step 4. Sacrifice.
The Lord hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion; Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah. Ps. 20:1-3 (KJV)
This is the fourth and final step which I want to share with you on provoking the help of God, and I believe it to be a very crucial step. If you want to provoke the help of God, then you must be willing to go all way with the sacrifice of your substance to God. We talk of Abraham and how much God helped him, but fail to see that the blessing pronounced on Abraham was on the platform of sacrifice. Abraham’s willingness to go all the way in sacrificing his substance (his only son to God), commanded the Blessing on him eternally. Solomon offered such sacrifice to God as never seen and God showed up to speak with him. Never underestimate the power of a sacrifice in provoking the help of God. There is something powerful about a sacrifice that brings God on the scene and commands His power to bear over any situation. Again, there are times when the sacrifice will be commanded like it was for Abraham and at other times, it could be a willing sacrifice like Solomon offered. The bottom line is that in any case, be willing to go the length with God when it is time for a sacrifice

Let me quick state at this point as I begin to wrap up, that not all these steps may be required for every situation. There will be situations where you will be required to go only the length of step 1 and 2 to get your desired result, while some other situation may require going full circle through step 4. But in any case, be willing to go all the way to get the result you desire. Let me also add that there could be several factors that one may consider to provoke the help of God, but I have shared only these few step as I have identified them by the help of the Holy Spirit and my teachers.
Again, remember that these steps should be taken in order if you want to get the best results, and if you will diligently follow these steps, then you will find out that no situation is too difficult for God to overturn in your favour.

Your season of help is here!

Find Your Place and Stay There

Like a bird that wanders from its nest is a man who wanders from his place. Prov.27:8 (NIV) One of the greatest advantages you can have in life is to find your place early and stay there. The challenges of life come to us all, but you may just find it so overwhelming when you are not in your place, as compared to the person who has found their place. I am sure that you have come across one or two persons in life who excel and have an utter sense of fulfilment in what they do in life. It doesn’t have to be really big sometimes, but you can tell that they are in their place, where they should actually be. You may also have come across some persons whom you will consider clear misfits where they are, and in what they do. The latter set of people are most likely not to be prospering as they should, or I should say, they have potential to prosper more, if they find their place and stay there. The same is true about your life. Sometimes you need to take a step back and ask yourself if you ar...

Two Things to Avoid to be Prosperous

He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster. Prov.18:9 (KJV) In my last piece, I talked about the importance of finding your place, and staying there to command God’s Blessing. I emphasized the importance of staying power in whatever God has called you to do or committed to your hands. In this piece, I will seek to drive the conversation further, talking about two wrong attitudes that will greatly hinder the Blessing of God from finding expression in your life. Our text says the slothful is brother to a great waster, this is a very dangerous company indeed, and always a disaster waiting to happen. These two characters can never prosper and attain God’s highest Blessing. You may be working hard and making mistakes, but you must keep at it because, the man who tries and make mistakes will command the Blessing far more than the man who is slothful. God hates laziness! Laziness can disguise in many ways; a person can be spiritually lazy, and that...

Updated: Don’t Bind the Brook, Don’t Rebuke the Ravens - Simple Lesson in Obedience

Over the years I have come to understand the place of simple obedience to the instructions of God, and the huge difference it could make in one’s life. I have also come to see how easy believers can be in disobedience, yet be able to cover up with some form of spiritual activity, then in the end attempt to pass on the responsibility for their failures on God.   This can possibly account for one of the biggest reasons why there are believers who seem not to be making progress in life in spite of their seeming spirituality. The situation is even more compounded when older believers who should set the example for younger believers fall into this group. The implication is that there will be a generation of young believers who cannot seem to find the proper alignment between the Christian faith and being productive in life.   The story of the prophet Elijah in 1 Kings 17, clearly illustrates my point.  The Word of the Lord had come to the prophet to camp by the bro...
