Getting the Word of God to work for you

In my life experience as a Christian, I have always taken time to do some introspection, and one of those areas that I have had to reflect on over and over, is why it seems like the word of God isn’t working for some believers. If you have also ever wondered whether the word really works or not, then I encourage you to read through the entire piece.

To begin with, we know that the scripture says that the word of God has been tried and it never fails (Ps.12:6), so you must first come to terms with the truth that it isn’t the word that is under trial, but you; it is your faith in the word that is being tried, to see if it comes out as gold. This is a very important shift to make if you are desirous of getting the word to work for you. Settle first in your heart that the word of God cannot fail, if it doesn’t work for you as expected, the challenge could never be with the word. Again, once you have this in the right perspective, you have already made a significant leap in the process of getting the word to work for you.

That said, perhaps the most important thing you can ever do to get the word to work for you is to simply act on it. I have thoughtfully observed that many believers for whom it seems that the word of God isn’t working are lacking in their ability to act on the word. I have not expressly said that this is the case with everyone, because there could be some peculiarities, but largely this is the case. Let me say here that regardless of how much on the word you study and know, if you will not act on the word, it will not produce results for you. It means therefore that you should not be as bothered about gaining more knowledge of the word as you should be about acting on the knowledge of the word of God that you already have. This singular decision of acting on the word will make the most significant difference in your life, and on your journey to fulfilling destiny. But it takes courage to act on the word always, because there will be many times that you will have to act against every sense of reason.

The difference many times between two similar situations in which one turns out into a testimony, and the other doesn’t is in the fact that where there was a testimony, someone chose to deliberately act on the word regardless of how hopeless the situation appeared.

If you want the word of God to produce results in your life, the starting point is to make that conscious decision to begin to act on the word. I make no assurances that you will figure out everything all at once, or that choosing to act on the word will always come easy, like I said it will often take courage, but if you follow that path, you can be assured of victory. As you trust God’s word enough to act on it, God’s word will also trust you enough to begin to produce results in your life.

Make that shift today, every result producing believer has had to do same at some point.

Your decision is to accept responsibility for getting the word to work for you by acting on it.

This is where victory lies for every believer.

Shalom!

Find Your Place and Stay There

Like a bird that wanders from its nest is a man who wanders from his place. Prov.27:8 (NIV) One of the greatest advantages you can have in life is to find your place early and stay there. The challenges of life come to us all, but you may just find it so overwhelming when you are not in your place, as compared to the person who has found their place. I am sure that you have come across one or two persons in life who excel and have an utter sense of fulfilment in what they do in life. It doesn’t have to be really big sometimes, but you can tell that they are in their place, where they should actually be. You may also have come across some persons whom you will consider clear misfits where they are, and in what they do. The latter set of people are most likely not to be prospering as they should, or I should say, they have potential to prosper more, if they find their place and stay there. The same is true about your life. Sometimes you need to take a step back and ask yourself if you ar...

Two Things to Avoid to be Prosperous

He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster. Prov.18:9 (KJV) In my last piece, I talked about the importance of finding your place, and staying there to command God’s Blessing. I emphasized the importance of staying power in whatever God has called you to do or committed to your hands. In this piece, I will seek to drive the conversation further, talking about two wrong attitudes that will greatly hinder the Blessing of God from finding expression in your life. Our text says the slothful is brother to a great waster, this is a very dangerous company indeed, and always a disaster waiting to happen. These two characters can never prosper and attain God’s highest Blessing. You may be working hard and making mistakes, but you must keep at it because, the man who tries and make mistakes will command the Blessing far more than the man who is slothful. God hates laziness! Laziness can disguise in many ways; a person can be spiritually lazy, and that...

Updated: Don’t Bind the Brook, Don’t Rebuke the Ravens - Simple Lesson in Obedience

Over the years I have come to understand the place of simple obedience to the instructions of God, and the huge difference it could make in one’s life. I have also come to see how easy believers can be in disobedience, yet be able to cover up with some form of spiritual activity, then in the end attempt to pass on the responsibility for their failures on God.   This can possibly account for one of the biggest reasons why there are believers who seem not to be making progress in life in spite of their seeming spirituality. The situation is even more compounded when older believers who should set the example for younger believers fall into this group. The implication is that there will be a generation of young believers who cannot seem to find the proper alignment between the Christian faith and being productive in life.   The story of the prophet Elijah in 1 Kings 17, clearly illustrates my point.  The Word of the Lord had come to the prophet to camp by the bro...
