Believing for Financial Prosperity

The subject of financial prosperity has become one of the most controversial, and perhaps the most ill-spoken subject in the kingdom, yet it remains an all-important subject that we must continue to discuss as long as we remain on this side of eternity. I am aware that some do not like to hear anything on this subject, but if the bible speaks on it, then we can’t but also speak about it as messengers sent forth to preach the message of the kingdom.

My major premise of writing this piece is not to point out the misconceptions on the teachings on this subject, but to objectively share the basic principle by which God increases His people. There are many supposedly faith juggernauts who are just barely getting by when it comes to their personal finances. When you look at this sometimes, you are tempted to wonder why in spite of their spirituality, there isn’t much substances to show. But before I go on, let me first answer the question on whether or not God wants us to be financially prosperous. The answer certainly is YES. I personally believe that kingdom financial prosperity is one of the ways by which we will tame the systems of this world. Now, back to the core of our discussion, your faith has an important part to play in your financial prosperity, but it cannot go crosswise of the basic principle of financial prosperity, which is to offer value so that you can get value in return. No matter the level of your faith, you cannot be exempted from this simple principle.

What has left many confused in this area is that sometimes, a minister of the gospel may share how he/she receives offerings or seeds from people, and we are tempted to think that they got the offerings without offering no value, and so we can expect same. This is very untrue, a minister can only receive value in terms of offerings from people who have received some form of value, or are believing to receive some form of value in return from the minister. The basic principle of exchange of value must often play out, except of course the minister has found a way of sniffing money out of people. Some other times a minister may prophesy that you will get miracle money, yes, you can get miracle money, but miracle money is not God’s sustained order of meeting your financial needs, God still expects you to trade value for sustained financial prosperity.

When you come to this realization, you are armed with a very important truth for financial prosperity. You will be amazed at how much of a difference this truth makes, it will change the way you pray and the way you transact with your faith.

All through scriptures, you will see financially prosperous men, and you will find out that their faith did not exempt them from this basic principle of value exchange. The question then is what value are you trading? It could be spiritual or material, tangible or intangible. When you understand what value you are trading, you can trust God’s honour to come upon that value, and for multiplication like the widow’s jar of oil. Stop nursing the idea that God will just cause you to experience sudden exponential increase outside of this principle, that will lie completely outside God’s divine order.

Find your place of most significant or best value, trust God’s grace to rest upon that value, and then go trade with it. It is in this that you will encounter true financial prosperity.

Stretch

Isa. 54:2 “Enlarge the place of your tent, And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, And strengthen your stakes. The concept of stretching is very important for anyone who desires to make any meaningful progress in life. God has so designed everything in a manner that makes it almost impossible to make progress without any stretch. Even the human body grows by this same concept. It has been revealed that for a muscle to grow, it must first undergo "micro-tears." When you lift a weight that is slightly too heavy, the muscle fiber stretches and tears. It is only in the repair of those tears that the muscle becomes larger and stronger than before. If there is no tension, there is no transformation. The "pain" of the stretch is actually the signal that growth is happening. So If the human body grows by stretching, it follows to say that to reach anything significant in this life, we must stretch. God will always require ...

Resist The Pressure to Perform

A quote often attributed to Abraham Lincoln says, "If I had six hours to chop down a tree, I'd spend the first four hours sharpening the axe." Yet we live in a time when everyone seems to be more concerned with how quickly they can cut down their own tree than with whether their axe is sharp enough to get the job done. This reflects the intense pressure to perform that many of us face every day. When I speak of the pressure to perform, I am not referring only to workplace demands, but to the pressure we experience in our personal lives to produce visible results. Pressure can be a good thing when it is properly managed. It can motivate us to grow, improve, and reach our goals. However, when left unchecked, it can become destructive. One of the surest ways to manage the pressure to perform is by refusing to let the success of others become a source of unhealthy pressure in your own life. If you allow that to happen, you do yourself a great disservice. It is only natural to...
