Beware of Covetousness



Today we live in a very materialistic world, where it seems that progress is only measured by what you possess. This is not only a trend among unbelievers, but also amongst believers. The desire to acquire, and amass things in the shortest possible time has become so pervasive. 


There are many young believers who no longer trust God’s process of making His people, but have now become more focused on being self-made. This is clearly one of the signs of the end of the age, but Jesus clearly warned us about what our attitude should be to these things.


In Luke 12:15, Jesus said to take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life does not consist in the abundance of the things which he possesses. 


The temptation is real, and we must take heed to the words of Jesus, so that we are not caught up in the world’s pursuit of material things.


See the admonition of scripture in I Tim.6:6-9 


But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.


Bear in mind that it is good to have the good things of life, because they make life more comfortable for us, but you must never let covetousness set in. You must have the discipline to do a proper self-examination and to recalibrate at intervals. This will put you in a place where you give the Holy Spirit the opportunity to throw light on areas where you may just have been deviating or pursuing a selfish end.


As you desire increase and progress in life, be content with where you are per time, and be grateful to God for what He has given you. He is not done with you just yet, and you have a long journey of success to undertake. If you will approach life this way, God will continue to increase you and lift you steadily, until you come to the point where you are sufficient in all things and lacking in none.

    It good to know where we stay at every time of our life, not everyone will pass through a smooth road to success, (We are human and that can't be taken away)but, be that it may, we should never forget our God and his love for us. John 3:16.

Blessed By Association - Updated

Abraham by God’s calling had become a blessed man walking in the blessing. God appeared to him, changed his name and gave him the covenant of circumcision. You would have thought that all this will happen to just Abraham and his family, but not so, the blessing as we see it (Gen 17: 12-14) was also for as many as were with Abraham at that time. They came into the lineage of blessing simply by association with the man Abraham, they were to be circumcised just like Abraham, and came under the same covenant blessing. These people who were associated with Abraham at that time, including his household servants, enjoyed the most of the covenant that God Almighty gave to him.
