Redeemed and Free!

It is amazing the number of believers who do not really believe that we are redeemed and free. This is very easy to tell because redemption has an attitude, and where you cannot find that attitude, you can tell that there is a disconnect between what people profess, and what they truly believe.

Eph.1:7 In whom we have the redemption through his blood, the remission of the trespasses, according to the riches of His grace (YLT)

Our redemption simply means that God paid the price to regain possession of us from the dominion of darkness, and He wiped clean all our records of wrong doing, through the eternal sacrifice of His Son.

The implication is that we are no longer under the rule of the evil one, and beyond that, the greater implication is that we are now righteous!

This righteousness is a very big deal in the kingdom, because it was bestowed on us as a free gift, not by our works, and it confers on us the right to stand before God and the host of darkness without any sense of guilt, condemnation or inferiority. This is the real attitude of redemption, and if you have an understanding of your redemption, this attitude will be noticeable in your life.

This is the attitude with which we approach God knowing that our prayers register in heaven with accompanying answers, knowing that we can take authority over the forces of darkness, knowing that we can lay hold on the promises of sound health, of prosperity, and of the good life here in this earth realm.

On the other hand, there are people who have been redeemed from the dominion of the evil one, but they are struggling to stay free, and this struggle mostly arises from the fact that they find it difficult to believe that their redemption could be that easy. You can tell this is the case if you always feel the need to struggle or to make some kind of contribution to your freedom, even though it is not needed, because Christ did it all. If you see your prayer time as time spent in “battling for your freedom” rather than enforcing your dominion on the earth, then that understanding of righteousness, and Christ finished work for you has not taken root in your heart.

See what the Apostle Paul said to the Galatians in Galatians 3:3

Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh? (NIV)

These people were saved, but they began to drift to the place of works and efforts for perfection. This always happen when you feel the need to do something more to be free, or to enhance your salvation, but nothing more can ever be done. What has been done, has been done, and it is ever, more than enough! You cannot add a single thing to the finished work of redemption!

Let that settle in your heart, and all the struggles will cease. Let it settle in your heart that your sins are forgiven, that God sees you absolutely faultless, that Heaven is your guaranteed home, that you have power with God, that all the promises of God are yours for the taking, and all these without your works or efforts, you only have to accept it.

All the running around, seeking for help, even in unlikely places will end. Settle down and begin to look to the greater one inside of you, and you will become more conscious of who you are in Christ, and you will take your place as redeemed and free.

Shalom!

Find Your Place and Stay There

Like a bird that wanders from its nest is a man who wanders from his place. Prov.27:8 (NIV) One of the greatest advantages you can have in life is to find your place early and stay there. The challenges of life come to us all, but you may just find it so overwhelming when you are not in your place, as compared to the person who has found their place. I am sure that you have come across one or two persons in life who excel and have an utter sense of fulfilment in what they do in life. It doesn’t have to be really big sometimes, but you can tell that they are in their place, where they should actually be. You may also have come across some persons whom you will consider clear misfits where they are, and in what they do. The latter set of people are most likely not to be prospering as they should, or I should say, they have potential to prosper more, if they find their place and stay there. The same is true about your life. Sometimes you need to take a step back and ask yourself if you ar...

Two Things to Avoid to be Prosperous

He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster. Prov.18:9 (KJV) In my last piece, I talked about the importance of finding your place, and staying there to command God’s Blessing. I emphasized the importance of staying power in whatever God has called you to do or committed to your hands. In this piece, I will seek to drive the conversation further, talking about two wrong attitudes that will greatly hinder the Blessing of God from finding expression in your life. Our text says the slothful is brother to a great waster, this is a very dangerous company indeed, and always a disaster waiting to happen. These two characters can never prosper and attain God’s highest Blessing. You may be working hard and making mistakes, but you must keep at it because, the man who tries and make mistakes will command the Blessing far more than the man who is slothful. God hates laziness! Laziness can disguise in many ways; a person can be spiritually lazy, and that...

Updated: Don’t Bind the Brook, Don’t Rebuke the Ravens - Simple Lesson in Obedience

Over the years I have come to understand the place of simple obedience to the instructions of God, and the huge difference it could make in one’s life. I have also come to see how easy believers can be in disobedience, yet be able to cover up with some form of spiritual activity, then in the end attempt to pass on the responsibility for their failures on God.   This can possibly account for one of the biggest reasons why there are believers who seem not to be making progress in life in spite of their seeming spirituality. The situation is even more compounded when older believers who should set the example for younger believers fall into this group. The implication is that there will be a generation of young believers who cannot seem to find the proper alignment between the Christian faith and being productive in life.   The story of the prophet Elijah in 1 Kings 17, clearly illustrates my point.  The Word of the Lord had come to the prophet to camp by the bro...
