Steady Increase

Perhaps one of the greatest realisation that you will have in life is that the journey of life does not start and end in one day. If you have not come to that realisation yet, I believe you will eventually, at the right time. There will always be another day, so long as we are on this part of eternity. This realisation is fundamental to understanding why God also, being God, will not do everything He wants to accomplish in and through you in one day. God is systematic and He follows a process. Unfortunately, not too many believers realize this, many are only used to the suddenlies of God - sudden miracles, sudden outburst of power, which are all good, but for the most time, I have seen that God is systematic in His approach and if you are only fixated on those suddenlies, you are likely to miss Him.

The scriptures make a solid case for this discussion. God led the children of Isreal out of Egypt to a land He had promised them before hand. The expectation was that God will suddenly deliver the entire land to them in one fell swoop, but it turned out not to be exactly so. God was going to deliver all the land to them, but He was going to do it systematically, little by little.

Exo.23:29-30

But I will not drive them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate and the wild animals too numerous for you. Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you have increased enough to take possession of the land.

Some folks, God bless their hearts, think that if it follows a process or is systematic, then God is not really in it, nothing can be further from the truth than this. There are many christians who believe that when God wants to bless you, it has to be by one massive hit or windfall. Well, you can have a big hit or windfall, but you can also gather little by little by the help of God. God is as much in it when it is systematic as much as He is in it when it happens suddenly.

Let’s look again at the scripture we just read, God had a good reason for not driving out all the inhabitants all at once, He wanted His people to grow to fill up the land. What will be the use of driving out all the other inhabitants of the land if His own people were not ready to possess it fully yet.

Why is this lesson so important to you – it is because there may be things that God has shown you or visions that He has given you which haven’t yet come to pass in fulness. Sometimes, you are tempted to wonder why they have not yet come to pass if truly God gave them to you, and at other times, you wonder when or if they will ever come to pass. Well, I have good news for you today – God is bringing them to pass litlle by little!

Never be in a hurry to bring God’s promises to pass in your life, otherwise you may find yourself resorting to self help, and that will be treading on very dangerous ground. King Saul did it when he offered the sacrifice before the Prophet Samuel showed up, and the consequencies were devastating.

God may have promised you a turn around in your finances, growth in your business, promotion in your career, increase in your ministry and many other great things, and you may not have seen them in the measure you expect. You must give your faith time to produce.

There is an in-working of God in your life that will produce an outworking of all those things you desire to see. But beyond that, is that when everything ties together, you will come to see the wisdom of God in why He has taken you through the process He has.

The summary of the lesson is not for you not to have big expectations of the suddenlies, but for you never to despise the little steady increases that God is bringing about in your life. I believe that the greater the appreciation you have for these things, the more you will literally see God’s hand at play in your life.

Let your heart be at rest, God will increase you steadily!

Blessed By Association - Updated

Abraham by God’s calling had become a blessed man walking in the blessing. God appeared to him, changed his name and gave him the covenant of circumcision. You would have thought that all this will happen to just Abraham and his family, but not so, the blessing as we see it (Gen 17: 12-14) was also for as many as were with Abraham at that time. They came into the lineage of blessing simply by association with the man Abraham, they were to be circumcised just like Abraham, and came under the same covenant blessing. These people who were associated with Abraham at that time, including his household servants, enjoyed the most of the covenant that God Almighty gave to him. It therefore goes to show that there are associations in life that will forever set you up for the blessing. That is why you must treasure the relationships that God brings into your life, and never take them for granted.  In one of the piece published on this blog,  Identity by association , it was emphasized t...

Becoming a Person of Value

Over the years, I have come to realize that everyone likes to associate with people of value. It means that if you are someone who commands value, people will be drawn to you. If not, they will not. Now, suppose you find yourself always seeking to associate with others whom you consider valuable, but discover that not many people are eager to associate with you — this could simply mean that you are not yet commanding enough value. I use the words “not yet” intentionally, because I am mindful that we can all command great value if we take the right steps. Here are a few steps to help you truly become a person of value: 1. Have the Right Perspective The first step to becoming a person of value is to have the right perspective of who you are — who you are in Christ and the graces God has bestowed upon you. I do not think you can be of worth to yourself or to others if you do not first understand who you are in Christ. Remember, you are valuable in the sight of God, which is why He was wil...

Becoming a Person of Value - Part 2

In the first part of this series, I shared the first two steps to becoming a person of value: 1. Having the right perspective 2. Valuing people These are foundational principles for building true value. Today, I’ll share three additional steps that can help you on this journey. But remember—these steps only work when you internalize and practice them consistently. It’s not enough to know them; you must live them. 3. Value Knowledge and Learning The third step to becoming a person of value is to develop an insatiable hunger for knowledge. Be a lifelong learner, and to do that, you must remain humble. No matter how knowledgeable you are, there is always something to learn—even from those who may know less than you in other areas. As a Christian, growing in the knowledge of God is essential. It will strengthen your foundation in times of trials and storms. Keep pressing toward deeper understanding of Him (Philippians 3:13-14). The pursuit of God is the most noble quest of all. However...
