Your Faith and the Experiences of Others

Faith is and will always be a personal issue, and faith is based on the word of God only, every other ground is sinking sand. The purpose of this short piece is to open our eyes to some of the subtle tricks of the enemy to diffuse our faith and make it impotent such that we get little or no results in our walk of faith. There are so many believers out there who are basing their faith on the experiences of other people, whether positive or negative experiences. It may appear fine if those experiences were positive experiences, but it isn’t altogether right, and in the case where the experiences are negative, it will completely drown your faith. Now, I am aware that there are Christians who never seem to require faith or who never seem to use their faith so to say, because they always have an alternative to faith. But sooner than later there will come a time that you will have to stand for yourself in faith, and the true worth of your faith will show forth. While I ackno...

I want to pray but I don’t know what to pray for

Perhaps you have found yourself desiring to pray but just when you decide to pray you are not even sure what you should pray for. Many times this happens, it is not really because you have nothing to pray about, but because you have many things you will like to pray for in such a short time that you don’t even know how to prioritize them. This challenge may seem small but it really hinders many people from praying at all. Some even go ahead to substitute prayer with something else they are more certain about simply because they didn’t know what to pray about when they should be praying. There are also times that you feel the burden to pray, you know surely that the Holy Spirit is impressing upon your heart to pray but you refuse to act because you are not sure of what you should pray for. Sooner than later, the burden will lift whether you yield to it or not. The difference is that when you yield to that burden, there is a sense of relief that comes to you, with an assurance o...

Be a Person of Value

One of the major concerns of this age and time is how people hurriedly want to rise to the top in society without adding any value or even if it means at the expense of others. This is largely due to the fact that our society places value on the wrong things. There are many millionaires and perhaps billionaires who have no day time job and have no value they are adding to the society in terms of being productive in any sense. As other young people look up to such individuals, they get the message that you don’t necessarily need to be a person of value before you can gain societal influence. The farther we go in this direction, the worse it is for us as a people because we are setting a dangerous precedent. Unfortunately, some believers are also getting caught up in this web, albeit in a way that isn’t really obvious to many. While unbelievers are trying to cut corners to gain influence, believers are trying to “spiritualize” their way to influence. So we now have many believ...

Not a hoof must be left behind

When you think of what the believer’s position should be at all times, nothing short of what the Apostle John said in 3 Jn. 2 ( Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth) should come to mind. The idea really is that our outward prosperity must match our inward or soul prosperity. The question about whether God wants us to prosper or not does not even arise. His desire is for us to prosper and be in good health to enjoy the prosperity. So why then is it that some believers are not prospering as they should? It is good that we have many believers who are prospering in every area of life, but there are some also who are not prospering at all, the only good thing to their credit is that they are saved, but the fact remains that you are not totally free without your substance. Looking carefully at the story of the children of Israel, their deliverance from Egypt, they had the options of serving God as slaves in Egypt (...

God’s Terms or My Terms

It is not uncommon to see organizations having terms of service explicitly detailing out certain conditions under which they render services to customers, and outside of which they can’t be held accountable for anything. The question is does God have His own terms of service or can I always serve Him on my terms? On a general note, it is a good thing to have various alternatives to accomplish the same goal, but this isn’t always the case when it comes to our service to God. Many times, when God wants you to do something, He not only tells you what to do, He tells you exactly how He wants you to go about it, leaving no room for alternative methods. However, the devil is very cunning and his primary assignment is to keep you in disobedience, and he will use everything he possibly can to accomplish his goal. His first approach is to completely keep you out from doing what God has asked you to do, but should this strategy fail, there is a strategy that always works for him and tha...

Can I just be honest or should I say the truth?

Our subject today may not sound like a question you have heard many believers ask often, but it is a question that is always seeking for answers in the heart of many, particularly those who have been taught on the subject of faith, and who look forward to practicing their faith. To begin with, we must ask ourselves if there is any difference between being honest and telling the truth in the context of scriptures. The two words may seem closely related, and even used interchangeably, but they convey different thoughts in the context of the scriptures as we will see. In my last article on Deliverancethrough the word , I said to be honest is to be open enough to tell it as it is i.e. without any exaggerations or trying to introduce any form of deception. This description may also fit for the truth, but truth goes far beyond that, truth is the highest form of reality there is. We know that there are physical realities as well as spiritual realities, and we also know that spiritual rea...

Deliverance through the Word

For many years now, I have wondered why many Christians don’t receive permanent deliverance from their challenges or troubles. It bothered me so much to see believers being afflicted over again after having supposedly received their deliverance. Sometimes I thought could it be the personalities involved in helping them get delivered, if the personality were some very “powerful” man of God, would the deliverance be more permanent? Many have been delivered from one affliction or the other, could be a sickness or disease, bad habits, addictions and so on, even under very powerful men of God or ministries, and sometimes down the line, they are back to where they started from, and at other times even worse. Now, this is not to say that this always the case, there are countless number of people who have been delivered permanently from their troubles. My goal is see what could be responsible for making some others loss their deliverance if they got it in the first place. If we understood...
