How to be Consistent III

In the first part of this series, we took a look at being consistent and considered that the first area to focus on in attempting to live consistently will be to bridge the gap between what you know and what you truly believe. We established that your life begins to take shape soon after this gap is closed. In the second part, we discussed the importance of starting with what you have and from where you are, and letting God’s help meet you in action. The next step then at living a consistent life will be to stick with what you are doing. I do not in any way mean that you cannot pivot into something else, but the truth is that many pivot too quickly because they lack the staying power to get things off the ground. When you don’t stay long enough with something, you may not even know whether pivoting is the right thing to do or not. Sometimes, it could be that you are supposed to pivot, but the time has not yet come for that pivot, and at other times it could be that you are no...

PLAN OF REDEMPTION

Man sold himself out to the devil making himself a bond slave and that slavery will last until the lease or period of man’s dominion expires. God must in some way redeem fallen man from his sin and Satan’s dominion. He must do it in such a way as not to be unjust to Satan nor unjust to man. God must recognise and hold inviolate man’s treacherous act of transference of dominion. It was a legal act and God has no right to arbitrarily annul it. He must show Satan perfect justice at all points, and at same time He must reach man in his helplessness and redeem him. In order to do this, it is necessary that one comes to the earth who is not a subject of Satan and yet a man, and as a man meet every demand for justice against man. In order to accomplish this, there must be an incarnation. This incarnate one must not be a subject of Satan, nor a subject of death, and to this end, God sends the Holy Spirit to a virgin in Judah and she conceives and bears a son. This son i...

How to be consistent in life II

In the first part of this series, we shared on one of the vital keys to living a life of consistency, which is bridging the gap between what you know and what you truly believe. We established that once you begin to close up this gap by giving more thoughts to what you know and acting on same, your life will begin to take shape. The next thing in being consistent will then be starting out from where you are and with what you have. There are many people who are always wanting to start out far from where they are, and with what they don’t have, this means that they never get to start out in life or they are just in a perpetual loop of “about to start” hence, the inconsistency in their life. If you are such a person, it will do you great good to realize that what you are waiting to have before ever starting could be something you may never have until you have set out. Repeatedly, in scriptures, you will find that God will almost always have people start out from where ...

How to be consistent in life - Part I

For many years, I have always wondered why some people find it difficult to be consistent in life and this lack of consistency is doing more damage to their lives than they perhaps even realize. Some others have come to realize the harm of inconsistency, but they just seem not to be able to get over it. Your consistency is a great determinant to how far you can go in life, and how much you will ever achieve. In this first part, I will focus on a key factor in being consistent and that will be what you truly believe. Over the years I have come to realize from my personal experience, and from my dealings with other people that what you know isn’t necessarily what you believe. There could be a gap between what you know and what you believe, and the larger the gap between these two, the more inconsistent your life is likely to be. Interestingly, what you truly believe is really what is driving your life, and not what you know. It is just like having two individuals in a car w...

Instrument Flying

I have watched several video documentaries on how pilots fly their airplane, and it is just always fascinating, seems like I could never get enough of it, perhaps because flying was one of the dreams I had as a younger man, which I have not yet had the opportunity to pursue. For all that I have learnt about pilots and airplanes, one thing that really stands out is that pilots are taught to trust more in their flight instruments on the airplane than in their senses when flying an airplane. It means that you will never find any well-trained pilot who will simply begin to maneuver or change the course of his airplane simply because he feels he is on a wrong course while his flying instruments still says he is on the right course. In fact, I have watched a few aircraft investigations that were caused by faulty instruments that probably misled the airplane pilots. The concept of instrument flying is a no brainer to pilots, you just cannot trust your senses when you are high...

Pressure to Perform

It was Abraham Lincoln who said "If I had six hours to chop down a tree, I'd spend the first four hours sharpening the axe.” But we are living at a time when everyone seems to be bothered about how quickly they can cut their own tree without recourse to whether or not their cutting edge is sharp enough to get the job done. This speaks only but of the pressure to perform which we face daily. When I speak of the pressure to perform, I do not refer to work place pressure, but I speak of the pressure we face in our individual lives to produce results. Pressure can be a good thing if properly contained and managed, however, it could also be dangerous if not properly managed. One sure way to handle the pressure of performance in life is not allowing the success of others to put you under undue pressure to perform, if you allow this, you will be doing a great disservice to yourself. I understand that it is a normal human characteristic to make comparison, that could be a go...

Rich in Good Works

It was the Apostle Paul who instructed Timothy to charge the congregation that he was overseeing to be not high minded nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God who gives us richly all things to enjoy. That they do good, be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate. Our emphasis for this short piece will however be on the verse 18 of 1 Timothy 6. One would have naturally expected that since these people were already believers, they knew these things and were equally practicing them. You see, sometimes believers run after the seeming big things of faith and doctrine and neglect some of the basic instructions of scriptures. Interestingly, it is actually some of these basics that complete your faith. In Acts of Apostles chapter 10, we read of the story of certain centurion name Cornelius. He was rich in good works but he had no salvation, an angel of the Lord had to appear to him to get Peter who would show him the way of salvation. Likewise,...
