Value Vessels


In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use. If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work. (2Tim.2:20-21)

Men look at the use of a vessel, but God looks at its value. Wooden and earthen vessels in a house may appear more useful than gold and silver vessels, but the gold and silver vessels are far more valuable. God’s point of view, His regard is not for use; it is for value. It is not performance that brings the glory of God, it is value.

How do you bring about this value?

Start by fixing your Love walk

Love is the halmark of our Christian faith

Love for God and people is what attracts the glory of God upon a man and makes the man valuable.

In a previous article I wrote I shared my thoughts on Paul and Silas’ experience in jail. At first glance reading that story, you did think it was only praise that caused the earthquate that broke the prison shackles, but as you pay closer attention you will find something even more – the largeness of their hearts. 

These men had just been miraculously set free from the shackles in jail, but they made no attempt to escape, neither did they allow the jailer to slay himself when he attempted to, just so they could prove a point – that they were “men of God”. For them, the jailers death would justify nothing, and you may overlook this part because it may not appear as a big deal, but it definitely is. 

These men were filled with love even for their jailer. They had no bitterness in their heart against the jailer or the system that put them there. neither did they desire the jailor’s death. 

It is this heart of love towards others that got the attention of heaven in the first place, not just praise alone. Praise in such a situation as these men found themselves is an act of faith, and faith works through love (Gal. 5:6) 

So if you want to be a valuable vessel to God, one that will attract His Glory and command such a feat, your love walk must be in place, else you will fall flat on your face. 

The answer does not always lie in the quantity of time spent in prayer or in praise, but in the quality, and the quality is dependent upon the condition of your heart – are you walking in love?

Stretch

Isa. 54:2 “Enlarge the place of your tent, And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, And strengthen your stakes. The concept of stretching is very important for anyone who desires to make any meaningful progress in life.
