Looking Ahead with Great Expectancy

My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste: So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off. Prov. 24:13-14 (KJV)

Revelation-knowledge is a delicacy, sweet like flowing honey that melts in your mouth. Eat as much of it as you can, my friend! For then you will perceive what is true wisdom, your future will be bright, and this hope living within you will never disappoint you. Prov. 24:13-14 (TPT)

Let us begin by asking you what your expectations are for this year? It was Albert Einstein who said that we cannot solve problems by using the same kind of thinking used when those problems were created. Unfortunately, this is exactly what many people try to do.

People cross into a New Year with great expectations that things will be different in the New Year or that things will work out differently, but there is no real basis for this expectation, because they are yet to really figure out what should be their part or contributions in bringing those great expectations to pass. I know we pray and prayer is very good, however, we should also note that in some instances, prayer is not an end , but a means to an end – prayer can be the place where the Holy Spirit reveals certain things to you that you can do differently to get all those great expectations to come to pass.

You see, if you want to get unusual results, you must be willing to take uncommon steps, and some of these steps may not make sense to you or to the people around you. At other times, the people around you may even oppose you. Jesus was going to do something unusual by saving humanity, but when He discussed it with His disciples, they were sad and one of them even rebuked Him. What do you think, if they knew what the outcome of His death would mean to humanity, would they have been sad or rebuked Him? If you are unwilling to do things differently and take unusual steps, then you may not be ready for some of the unusual breakthroughs that you want to experience.

Abraham trusted God for a son alongside his wife Sarah, and they had him in their old age, but there was more that God wanted to do for Abraham. One time he received an unusual instruction to sacrifice that son and by the next morning Abraham was on his way to carry out God’s instruction. We know the outcome of that encounter and the rest is history. In my own personal life and family, we have received these types of unusual instructions, and taken steps to carry them out, and whenever we have done, we have experienced remarkable turning points.

In this new season, as you wait upon God and as you pray, let your heart be open to heaven’s instructions, and more importantly, be willing to take bold and unusual steps to experience the great things you desire in the year. This year, be willing to do something different, and be willing to push further and harder not just in effort, but in faith, backed by true action. I tell you the truth, you will have a glorious testimony at the end of the day.

Have a beautiful new year!!!

With Love,

Ola & Kemi

  2. “If you are unwilling to do things differently and take unusual steps, then you may not be ready for some of the unusual breakthroughs that you want to experience”. This is key for me! God bless you for this wonderful piece.

Updated: Don’t Bind the Brook, Don’t Rebuke the Ravens - Simple Lesson in Obedience

Over the years I have come to understand the place of simple obedience to the instructions of God, and the huge difference it could make in one’s life. I have also come to see how easy believers can be in disobedience, yet be able to cover up with some form of spiritual activity, then in the end attempt to pass on the responsibility for their failures on God.   This can possibly account for one of the biggest reasons why there are believers who seem not to be making progress in life in spite of their seeming spirituality. The situation is even more compounded when older believers who should set the example for younger believers fall into this group. The implication is that there will be a generation of young believers who cannot seem to find the proper alignment between the Christian faith and being productive in life.   The story of the prophet Elijah in 1 Kings 17, clearly illustrates my point.  The Word of the Lord had come to the prophet to camp by the bro...

Blessed By Association - Updated

Abraham by God’s calling had become a blessed man walking in the blessing. God appeared to him, changed his name and gave him the covenant of circumcision. You would have thought that all this will happen to just Abraham and his family, but not so, the blessing as we see it (Gen 17: 12-14) was also for as many as were with Abraham at that time. They came into the lineage of blessing simply by association with the man Abraham, they were to be circumcised just like Abraham, and came under the same covenant blessing. These people who were associated with Abraham at that time, including his household servants, enjoyed the most of the covenant that God Almighty gave to him. It therefore goes to show that there are associations in life that will forever set you up for the blessing. That is why you must treasure the relationships that God brings into your life, and never take them for granted.  In one of the piece published on this blog,  Identity by association , it was emphasized t...

Flourishing in Hard Times

No doubt we are in very challenging times, there seems to be crisis everywhere, and most economies in the world are affected. Many Christians have become casualties of the the economic hardship that is raging across the world, and worst still is that many seem really helpless even in the face of the obvious help that God has promised His people.   This piece seeks to highlight a few important points that could be of significance in helping the believer to flourish in these hard times.   1.      Know that your sins are forgiven and enter His rest   And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar. Gen.26:1   The bible records that that there was a famine in the land and Isaac moved to Gerar. Gerar signifies a lodging place or a place of rest. Many believers have yet to come to that place of rest in Christ. They still live with a consc...
