Not in Defense of God

In the wake of recent happenings around the world, particularly in our nation, there are many who are asking questions, some genuine; out of a desire to really understand, and others just to make mockery of our faith.     We certainly do not have answers to every question, and will not pretend to do, neither is this a piece in the defense of God, for how can a mortal man defend the Almighty. This piece is simply to provide some insight based on what we know from the scriptures.   Satan is the god of this world, he gained lease of it when man fell in the beginning, giving rise to evil.   2 Corinthians 4:4 Satan, who is the god of this world… (NLT).    As long as Satan’s lease remains on the earth, there will be evil occurrences, because God is just and will not violate Satan’s lease which was a legal transaction when man fell. Luke 4:6 …the devil said, “because they are mine to give to anyone I please. (NLT).   Whatever represents stealing, killi...

God is Not a Slacker

The Lord does not delay [as though He were unable to act] and is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness…2 Peter 3:9   Whenever we receive a promise or a word from God, we almost begin to expect same to come to pass immediately, and this sometimes is where the trouble comes from. When the manifestation doesn’t come within the time frame that we have set in our mind, we begin to doubt if really God meant what He promised or if it is that He is just not consistent in bringing His word to pass.     Many believers try to put up a bold face and a solid appearance, but these are real questions begging for answers in the lives of many. As we look carefully at scriptures, and even at the positive experiences of those who have gone before us, it is not hard to find out that many times, our estimation of time is not the same as God’s.     When God speaks to us, as humans, we try to interpret it within the sphere of our human comprehension, so that we can...

Doing Good

Gal. 6:9-10 And don’t allow yourselves to be weary in planting good seeds, for the season of reaping the wonderful harvest you’ve planted is coming! Take advantage of every opportunity to be a blessing to others, especially to our brothers and sisters in the family of faith! (TPT)   One of our general callings as believers is to do good unto others, but as you reflect on our text, you will find that one of the key words there is opportunity . How does opportunity come? Sometimes, we are just in our own place and opportunity comes knocking, and this is true for everyone, only not everyone takes advantage of the it. Opportunity comes knocking when someone needs your help in feeding themselves or their family, paying their hospital bill, school fees, or just meeting some basic needs. However, there are also times that you are actively on the lookout for opportunity, looking for someone you can be a blessing to, and this is where my focus lies in this short piece.   Our world is v...

External Activation

In a recent article I explained the process of internal activation as a first step towards living a permanent life of victory. In that piece, I pointed out that it all starts with believing, a deep-seated conviction in your heart, and such conviction can only come by constantly meditating on the word of God.  The next step will then be to activate externally, which is the subject of this piece. Let’s begin by looking at a very popular scripture in Rom. 10:10 For it is believing in the heart that makes a man righteous before God, and it is stating his belief by his own mouth that confirms his salvation. (PHILLIPS) From this scripture you get the essence of the entire process, you activate internally by believing in your heart, and externally by confessing same with your mouth. I cannot over emphasize the place of constantly confessing boldly what God has said concerning you on your journey to a permanent life of victory.  There are many who don’t take their confessions of fait...

Internal Activation

For as long as I have been a Christian and kept my walk on the faith path, I have experienced God in many dimensions, and I have continued to learn daily how to bring God’s hand to bear over the situations and circumstances of life.  As I have made my progress, I have also tried to understand what the challenges could be for some others who are struggling in the faith walk. Not like I have made it my life business to study why people struggle, but just by constantly observing and being curious, I have found a few things.  One of those things that really bothers me is that there are people who do not know how to activate the help of God over their lives. I had thought that this was something almost too easy that everyone should be able to do… it is just as simple as the word of God puts it in Heb. 13:6, He has said that we may boldly say…why then do some people find it difficult to say?  Well, I found something; whether there is a strong deep-seated conviction or a weak co...

Looking Ahead with Great Expectancy

My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste: So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off. Prov. 24:13-14 (KJV) Revelation-knowledge is a delicacy, sweet like flowing honey that melts in your mouth. Eat as much of it as you can, my friend! For then you will perceive what is true wisdom, your future will be bright, and this hope living within you will never disappoint you . Prov. 24:13-14 (TPT) Let us begin by asking you what your expectations are for this year? It was Albert Einstein who said that we cannot solve problems by using the same kind of thinking used when those problems were created. Unfortunately, this is exactly what many people try to do. People cross into a New Year with great expectations that things will be different in the New Year or that things will work out differently, but there is no real basis for this...

Immanuel - God is with you

“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” Matt. 1:23 (NKJV) …I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matt 28:20b (NKJV) One of the most consistent themes of the entire bible is that God loves you and He is with you. In like manner, one of the most persistent tactics of the devil is to make you loose confidence in the love that God has for you, and in the reality of His presence with you. Over and over, the scriptures emphasize that God loves you and His presence will continue to abide with you. Indeed, this is the very essence of the coming of Jesus. He did not only come to pay the ultimate price for you, but to be with you till the end. This may sound really simple, but it is a major area of failure for some believers. When the devil can get you to begin to feel that perhaps God is not with you, then he can get you to be apprehensive or afraid, which in turn will lead to...
