The Simple Law of Increase

Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. John 12:24   In the natural realm, when you sow a seed, the seed dies and takes on new life. This new life has the potential ability to bear fruits, usually greater than what was sown. However, the death experience of the seed presents a challenge to the seed, it has to lose hold of itself and trust absolutely in the natural process of germination to take on new life. If a seed refuses to trust this process and so refuses to die, then it can only abide the way it is. As basic as this is, it can be the simple reason why some believers never experience increase – the fear of dying to self.   I have established in several previous writings that God wants you to prosper and to increase, and He has put everything in place for that to happen, but if you don’t follow God’s system of increase, He is not going to begin to run halt...

Being in the Way

And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master's brethren. Gen.24:27   There is an interesting story of Abraham and his eldest servant in Genesis 24, which forms the core of this piece of writing. As a background to the text, Abraham had instructed his servant strictly to get a wife for Isaac from amongst his own people, and not from amongst the Canaanites where he dwelt. The servant then set out for Mesopotamia to get a wife for Isaac, his master’s son. God showed this servant His kindness, and led him straight to Rebecca who was from the household of Nahor, Abraham’s brother.   As you read this interesting story, something stands out and that thing is what is often times absent in the lives of some believers; it is the motion of faith. Abraham and his servant didn't just wish for a wife for Isaac from amongst Abraham's people, neither...

How to Excel in your Field

So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands. Ps.78:72   What does it take to excel in God’s way in your chosen area of business or career? When we consider business or career success, it’s tempting to worry about things like: ·      Being charismatic ·      Being attractive ·      Being insanely intelligent   Those qualities are great, but they are not the real determinants of success. I will focus on three major areas that could help you succeed: 1.    Integrity of heart 2.    Skilfulness of hands 3.    Prayer Get these three things right, and you’ll succeed in any area of endeavour.   Integrity of Heart Integrity of heart is an emotional, spiritual, and practical consistency with your purpose. In essence, integrity of heart is internalising your purpose. That purpose becomes not just wh...

Commitment to do the Word

But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. James 1:25 (NKJV)   In the bible passage above, take note of the emphasis I added on the word doer. Over the years I have found out that this word can be the differentiator between a believer who lives a very ordinary life, and a victorious believer. Even though some may choose to differ on this, it stands obvious. There are far too many believers who would rather talk the word than do the word. Like the saying goes, it is not how much you know, but what you do with what you know. What good is it if you know so much of the word, but barely do it? The word cannot profit such a life.     You see, sometimes it is easy to find an excuse to do other things other than the word. It can even be easier sometimes to hide under the cover of praying than to do the word. For instance, the word says in 2 Cor. 9:6; ...

Flowing in the Miraculous

Many who desire to operate consistently in the miraculous have continued to press in consciously into the power of God. Some have seen the power at work consistently, while there are many others who haven’t experienced the power of God at work as much as they would have desired.     If you are in the latter place, you need to step back a little and evaluate again if you have everything right or possibly you are missing something important. From my study of the word of God and experience, often what is lacking is deep compassion.   The greatest men that have been mightily used of God to touch people’s lives have been men of deep compassion. Jesus was a man of deepest compassion, and the power of God flowed naturally through Him. One of the stories that points out the compassion of Jesus, and the lack of same by His disciples is the story of how Jesus fed the multitude in Mark’s gospel.   Mark 6:34-44 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, ...

Not in Defense of God

In the wake of recent happenings around the world, particularly in our nation, there are many who are asking questions, some genuine; out of a desire to really understand, and others just to make mockery of our faith.     We certainly do not have answers to every question, and will not pretend to do, neither is this a piece in the defense of God, for how can a mortal man defend the Almighty. This piece is simply to provide some insight based on what we know from the scriptures.   Satan is the god of this world, he gained lease of it when man fell in the beginning, giving rise to evil.   2 Corinthians 4:4 Satan, who is the god of this world… (NLT).    As long as Satan’s lease remains on the earth, there will be evil occurrences, because God is just and will not violate Satan’s lease which was a legal transaction when man fell. Luke 4:6 …the devil said, “because they are mine to give to anyone I please. (NLT).   Whatever represents stealing, killi...

God is Not a Slacker

The Lord does not delay [as though He were unable to act] and is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness…2 Peter 3:9   Whenever we receive a promise or a word from God, we almost begin to expect same to come to pass immediately, and this sometimes is where the trouble comes from. When the manifestation doesn’t come within the time frame that we have set in our mind, we begin to doubt if really God meant what He promised or if it is that He is just not consistent in bringing His word to pass.     Many believers try to put up a bold face and a solid appearance, but these are real questions begging for answers in the lives of many. As we look carefully at scriptures, and even at the positive experiences of those who have gone before us, it is not hard to find out that many times, our estimation of time is not the same as God’s.     When God speaks to us, as humans, we try to interpret it within the sphere of our human comprehension, so that we can...

Doing Good

Gal. 6:9-10 And don’t allow yourselves to be weary in planting good seeds, for the season of reaping the wonderful harvest you’ve planted is coming! Take advantage of every opportunity to be a blessing to others, especially to our brothers and sisters in the family of faith! (TPT)   One of our general callings as believers is to do good unto others, but as you reflect on our text, you will find that one of the key words there is opportunity . How does opportunity come? Sometimes, we are just in our own place and opportunity comes knocking, and this is true for everyone, only not everyone takes advantage of the it. Opportunity comes knocking when someone needs your help in feeding themselves or their family, paying their hospital bill, school fees, or just meeting some basic needs. However, there are also times that you are actively on the lookout for opportunity, looking for someone you can be a blessing to, and this is where my focus lies in this short piece.   Our world is v...

External Activation

In a recent article I explained the process of internal activation as a first step towards living a permanent life of victory. In that piece, I pointed out that it all starts with believing, a deep-seated conviction in your heart, and such conviction can only come by constantly meditating on the word of God.  The next step will then be to activate externally, which is the subject of this piece. Let’s begin by looking at a very popular scripture in Rom. 10:10 For it is believing in the heart that makes a man righteous before God, and it is stating his belief by his own mouth that confirms his salvation. (PHILLIPS) From this scripture you get the essence of the entire process, you activate internally by believing in your heart, and externally by confessing same with your mouth. I cannot over emphasize the place of constantly confessing boldly what God has said concerning you on your journey to a permanent life of victory.  There are many who don’t take their confessions of fait...

Internal Activation

For as long as I have been a Christian and kept my walk on the faith path, I have experienced God in many dimensions, and I have continued to learn daily how to bring God’s hand to bear over the situations and circumstances of life.  As I have made my progress, I have also tried to understand what the challenges could be for some others who are struggling in the faith walk. Not like I have made it my life business to study why people struggle, but just by constantly observing and being curious, I have found a few things.  One of those things that really bothers me is that there are people who do not know how to activate the help of God over their lives. I had thought that this was something almost too easy that everyone should be able to do… it is just as simple as the word of God puts it in Heb. 13:6, He has said that we may boldly say…why then do some people find it difficult to say?  Well, I found something; whether there is a strong deep-seated conviction or a weak co...

Looking Ahead with Great Expectancy

My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste: So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off. Prov. 24:13-14 (KJV) Revelation-knowledge is a delicacy, sweet like flowing honey that melts in your mouth. Eat as much of it as you can, my friend! For then you will perceive what is true wisdom, your future will be bright, and this hope living within you will never disappoint you . Prov. 24:13-14 (TPT) Let us begin by asking you what your expectations are for this year? It was Albert Einstein who said that we cannot solve problems by using the same kind of thinking used when those problems were created. Unfortunately, this is exactly what many people try to do. People cross into a New Year with great expectations that things will be different in the New Year or that things will work out differently, but there is no real basis for this...
